Challenge they faced

Despite Whop’s explosive growth, its marketing infrastructure wasn’t keeping pace. The company had hired an email marketer who failed to respond to clients, delivered poor designs, and lacked experience in the niche — undermining trust with top creators. Competitors like DubClub, Skool, and new niche startups were actively winning away creators. Whop needed to increase customer loyalty, particularly with its most valuable accounts. Many top creators (e.g., Gold Boys, Beat The Books, Wealth Group) weren’t investing in marketing beyond social media. Used to YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok carrying growth, they were hesitant to adopt email as a serious channel. Without a fix, Whop risked churn both at the platform level and across its creator base.

What we’ve done

When Valiant first partnered with Whop, email was barely on the radar. Creators didn’t have consistent campaigns, there were no lifecycle journeys in place, and many saw email as an afterthought rather than a growth channel. Our first step was to build a foundation that could support scale. We migrated the entire program into Mailmodo, set up and authenticated sender accounts for Whop’s top creators, and ran a full list clean-up to strip out fakes and inactive profiles. Deliverability, which had been hit or miss, quickly stabilized. With a trusted sending infrastructure in place, we had the platform to start building momentum.

Once the basics were solved, we introduced a weekly rhythm that gave creators consistency for the first time. Each week included strategy calls where campaigns were mapped out in detail. Between calls, our team stayed plugged in through Discord chats, reviewing ideas, gathering proofs, and refining positioning. What began as sporadic communication soon became a system: campaigns were planned, approved, and sent in a reliable cycle that creators could count on. That rhythm also freed creators from the stress of last-minute scrambles, letting them focus on running their communities while trusting us to handle the email engine.

We then overhauled design. Instead of plain text blasts or cluttered layouts, we built a full library of polished templates. Every design was mobile-first, balancing sharp visuals with concise copy and clear calls to action. The difference was immediate. Email started to look like a branded experience rather than a basic announcement, which changed how both creators and subscribers perceived the channel. Suddenly email was not just another notification but a piece of content worth opening.

Copywriting became the fuel behind performance. Our approach was to treat every campaign as a narrative rather than a push. Instead of hype, we leaned on proof and storytelling. Payout screenshots, member testimonials, community wins, and insider insights filled the inbox. We wrote with the goal of making every email feel like access to something exclusive, something worth paying attention to. As results grew, creators began to rely on us not only for execution but also to help shape their brand voice and show them how to translate their community energy into revenue.

Over time, Whop’s email operation matured into a complete campaign engine run end-to-end by our team. Strategy, design, copywriting, testing, deployment—each step was handled with a disciplined process. Flash sales, seasonal promotions like Father’s Day events, churn win-backs, and retention pushes all followed the same repeatable playbook: calls to align, asset collection, approvals, builds, QA, and live sends. Alongside campaigns, we layered in lifecycle automations. Welcome journeys introduced new members to the value of each community. Cancellation flows offered incentives and reinforced proof to prevent exits. Reactivation journeys reached back to churned users and gave them compelling reasons to return. These flows turned email into a background retention machine, capturing value creators didn’t even realize they were missing.

By the time the system was fully running, Whop and its top creators had a professional, scalable email program that matched the scale of the platform. What started as a neglected channel became a reliable driver of loyalty, reactivation, and growth. For many creators, it was the first time email felt like a core part of their business, and for Whop as a whole, it became a channel that helped protect against churn, deepen relationships, and generate consistent revenue.
